Real Estate Appraiser resources for Nevada

Real Estate Appraiser Information for the State of Nevada

Real estate appraisers are required to be licensed, per Title XI of the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act (FIRREA) of 1989.  This act required that each of the states establish an agency for the licensure, certification, and regulation of appraisers.

In Nevada, the Nevada Department of Business and Industry, Nevada Real Estate Division (NRED) is in charge of this oversight.

There are four classifications of real estate appraiser in the State of Nevada.  These classifications are:

  1. Registered Intern (Trainee)
  2. Licensed Residential Appraiser
  3. Certified Residential Appraiser
  4. Certified General Appraiser

Those new to a career in real estate appraisals must begin as a Registered Intern (trainee).  There is no experience required.  However, it is necessary to complete the state required coursework to become a Registered Intern.  The trainee must then work under a supervisor for a specified number of hours in order to be eligible to become a licensed or certified appraiser.
